Storyteller Session: BEATING BLOOD by John Darr

BEATING BLOOD

Fantasy Short by John Darr

LOGLINE: Brandon Clark only wants to fit in with the other guys, go to basketball camp, bully blerds (black nerds), and hide his talent from the others. But his carefully constructed world is threatened when his aunt offers to pay for camp, which he can’t afford, in exchange for taking his little cousin to Atlanta’s black sci-fi convention. The last place Brandon wants to go is “Blerd Central” but a chance encounter with an enigmatic stranger at the con leads to a journey of discovery and the realization that he “...has to go the way his blood beats.”
